The imaginary roosters are extraordinary. I would love to try that assignment. Maybe with dinosaurs though.
There were many exciting ideas in these three chapters, many of which overlap with our discussion in class last week, so I won’t bore you by listing them out.
The main thing I can’t help but thinking about is the advantages of an art teacher staying put in one room rather than traveling around. I am very much looking forward to hearing what Rosie and (new momma!) Stephanie have to say about their experiences. I’m a little disappointed that music gets an hour a week and art gets 3 hours a year. Do you feel that the kids suffer from this?

I hadn't noticed the fantasy rooster when I read through the chapter, but it is pretty great. I think I was focused on the "Dogpack" piece on the same page... go figure it is sculpture afterall.
In reference to students missing out on art instruction I guess I am glad to say that many classrooms integrate art into the curriculum on a weekly basis. Many great teachers out there within the district are advocating for the arts in the best way they know how, they take the time to teach it. Obviously it would be great to have more time for an art specialist to teach the students more frequently but I think the best approach to this teacher development program is to be super positive and find ways to prove it is enhancing the students educational experience.
